The Clubhouse

Verwood Bowling Club has, we believe, one of the best lawn green bowling facilities in Dorset. The Club ground with 6 rinks and purpose built clubhouse, on the edge of Ringwood Forest and Verwood Recreational Ground, is set in secluded and tranquil surroundings giving ideal conditions for playing bowls.

We have a green keeping contract with a local qualified and experienced company, and a Green Ranger within our Management Committee who overseas the work. The Club has all the professional green keeping equipment, along with the experience and expertise of our Green Ranger, to ensure that our grounds and facilities are kept in tip-top condition.

We Maintain our grounds and Facilities!!

The Bright Side of The Green

Membership volunteers support the Green Ranger in working on the green as well as carrying out necessary maintenance work on the surrounding grounds, outside furniture and the clubhouse. They are busy throughout the year making sure that the grass is looked after by regularly brushing leaves and excess water from the green, this helps keep the green disease free and encourages healthy growth.

Maintenance work in the clubhouse is also a main feature during the closed season in carrying out decorating, repairs and improvements to keep the clubhouse in tip-top condition.

All of our rinks are grass and although this restricts our ability to provide all-year bowling we believe that there are adequate facilities in the county for those wanting to play indoors throughout the winter months.

We have all the Maintenance Gear!!

We have an extensive range of bowling equipment such as Score Indicators; Bowling Mats; Green Protector Mats; Jacks; Spare Bowls; Bowls Collectors and measuring tapes, everything required for bowling league, friendly and Club events play. This ensures that we provide a serious and professional feel to our bowling games for members and visitors alike. Our clubhouse has changing facilities for men and women as well as a kitchen for provision of after match and social event refreshments.

Winter Short Mat Bowling in the Clubhouse

We are able to provide "short mat bowling" in our clubhouse during the closed season. This is available to all playing members on Wednesday afternoons and Sunday mornings September - April. A small charge is made for this facility of £1.50 per session to cover lighting; heating and tea with biscuits (cakes if your lucky!). This is very popular with members who like to keep bowling in the winter in a warm environment with a good social atmosphere.

Our Diamond Jubilee Bowling Day

Extensive use of our Clubhouse!!

As well as bowling, we make extensive use of our clubhouse to run a number of social events throughout the year. Some of these are after special Club bowling days or tournaments, bank holiday Club events or a quiz; domino or beetle drive night.

In the closed season there is also regular Progressive Whist held in the clubhouse normally 3 Monday afternoons per month.

These events are open to all members including social members. For a norminal fee, £5.00 per annum, social membership is available to all who want to come along to our social events. There is usually a nominal entrance fee charged per event to cover running costs and refreshments.

If you want to play lawn green bowling or just join as a social member, we are sure that you will find our facilities much more than adequate as well as welcoming and comfortable. Look out for our SPRING OPEN DAYS when we invite people to lookk around our facilities and give them opportunity to try bowling on our green.
