TREASURER'S REPORT

Treasurer's AGM report for year ending 30 September 2018

This year I am pleased to say Income exceeded expenditure resulting in a surplus of £1,574.36

The reason is as follows:

INCOME

1 - Social events this year have been a great success, although more attendees would be most welcome, they allow social interaction to be maintained and raise funds for the club. Dominoes, Safari Supper, Quiz, Christmas Dinner and Bring and Buy altogether have made a contribution of £453. The social committee should be congratulated, as should Betty Emery for coming up Trumps with a contribution of £738 resulting from her organised Whist Drives. Raffles continue to make a major contribution to our funds, this year a sum of £376 was raised. Thank you to all those involved. Again, this year we have been hiring club owned equipment to our Green Contractor, making £275. A good deal Mike. Last, but certainly not least, the Catering Team, who contributed a magnificent £791 and did a great job all year. We should all appreciate that without these activities our subscription rate would be much higher. Therefore, continued support for these activities is essential. A big thank you to all those involved in keeping these sources of income flowing into the club funds.

2 - Subscriptions have decreased this year by the significant sum of £1,740. This is mainly due to many members not renewing their membership due to ill health, old age etc. How inconsiderate! and new members paying the reduced fee of £60. The committee has recommended that individual subscription rates should not be increased for the coming year. Once again, it should be borne in mind this level of subscription can only be kept as long as social activities are supported and Green Maintenance is carried out by us members.

EXPENDITURE

We have been very frugal this year, no major expenditure on improvements to the club property or the purchase of new equipment. Savings on Green Contractor costs, due the efforts of our Green Team, offset increased costs of green materials such as Top Dressing, Fertiliser, Fungicide, Lawn Sand etc. Also the cost of the Green Sprinkler repair. The cost of the Fire Safety check was not received in time for these accounts and will be included in next year's costs being £109. Donations this year relate to marking our respect to the passing of Peter Baines and the sponsorship of a player in the Verwood Concert Band. Miscellaneous includes annual support costs regarding our Defibrillator for 2017/18 and 2018/2019 a total of £252 and the purchase of two Kettles, VCB Stickers, NFBA Ties and our appreciation to Mrs Everett for allowing the club keys to be held at her property.

On behalf of the club I would like to thank the Tuesday work party and various DIY experts for keeping our costs to a minimum.

Council Tax - we have benefited by receiving 100% relief over the last 8 years. This relief is dependent on government guidance and is due for review as at 1 April 2019. Of course, if this is unfavourable, our costs will increase accordingly.

FUNDS

As previously stated the current year income exceeds expenditure by £1,574.36 thereby increasing our bank balance to £16,055.31 which is a reasonable cushion.

In conclusion, we are financially sound and with continued support of all of the membership we will be able to further invest in our club. Under consideration at the moment is, as last year, Improved Ditch Liner and improved outdoor lighting.

I would also like to thank Geoff Finn for his expedience in carrying out the audit.

Treasurer
